Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between splitting and extracting pages?
Splitting cuts a document into several separate PDFs and keeps everything. Extracting produces one new PDF containing only the pages you pick. If you want several files, split; if you want one file with a few pages, use the extract tool.
Can I split a PDF into single pages?
Yes. Choose "Every N pages" and set it to 1 — every page becomes its own PDF, and you download them all together as a ZIP.
How do page ranges work?
Type one range per file, separated by commas. 1-3, 4-7, 8-12 makes three files. A single number like 5 makes a one-page file. Pages you leave out of every range are not included in any part.
How are the parts named?
Each part takes the original file name plus its page numbers, for example report-pages-01-04.pdf. The numbers are padded so the files sort in order.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are — nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed. Text remains searchable and selectable and images keep their original resolution.
Does this change my original PDF?
No. You download new files; the document on your disk is never modified.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Previewing and splitting both happen in your browser. Nothing is transmitted, so there is no copy of the document anywhere except your own device.
How large a PDF can I split?
Up to 50 MB. Documents up to 300 pages show full thumbnails; longer ones still work with numbered placeholders, and typed page ranges are the quickest way to split those.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Files with permission restrictions but no open password usually work. A PDF that demands a password before opening cannot be previewed or split — remove the password in your PDF reader first.
